so fall is upon us! that's dakota's favorite time of year in case ya'll didnt know.
so here's the updates on the world of Dakota.
-Perhaps on the Highway our EP is selling very well, so thanks from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who has purchased a copy. and to all those who haven't, 6 bucks!! cmon help us out! we broke phi broke (we aint got ittt).
-SHOWS SHOWS SHOWS (sing to the tune of "sunday sunday sunday")
- we have a slueee of shows in november so we're looking forward to playing to new crowds and seeing familiar faces. ya know, if you come to our shows, and listen to our music and stuff, honestly, we want to meet you! come say hello, introduce yourself, we're friendly guys. i promise. check out our mspace for show dates, locations, and all that info info info (sunday sunday sunday)
BIG SHOW saturday october 29th, the D is playing in lunenburg with In Royal Company, Fly Upright Kite, and Rainsford. this is a halloween show, and i know Dakota will be all dressed up, so feel free to

so school is in session which means its massive Dakota writing time. we've got a lot of stuff that you may hear sprinkled into the our live shows soon, some are hip new songs, and some are from our Summer Demo with Paul DiGiovanni, and have changed a little bit over time. keep your ears peeled.
Vuddah V-Bird - if you haven't noticed, we got a very classy new van. and aside from being very spacious and wonderful, it means, yes, we're going to begin booking our first ever Tour. whooaa! we will announce the specifics on it when it's all confirmed, but right now just trust us, its gonna be r-a-d-i-c-a-l. (radicaliosoiosimosious)
i SWEAR you dont want to miss this no, no, DONT, (i built you 2 red rooms on a gold mine by the ocean)
recording? we've been recording a collection of songs that are not really Dakota "live" songs. some of you have maybe heard a rumor that we're making a split EP Fly Upright Kite. there is some truth in that. it's not definite, but the songs are. in fact, we're almost done. (leave kite myspace messages haggling them about picking up the slack!) as for real good recordings, we don't know yet. we're mostly focusing on Perhaps On the Highway right now.

Yes, this show is huge.
on another note. we had a blllaaaaassstttt last night with our boys from A Loss For Words, so much so that we invited them back to play as the 6th band on that show on the 27th. fuck it. 6 bands. you cant stop it. its gonna be a festivus of unknown proportions so everyone must go and everyone must bring friends.. LOVE YOU!!!!

so we went to College Park, Maryland to record with Casey Crescenzo and here's what happened:
--- Sunday, May 1 ---
6:43am - Shawn
Shawn speaking from SoCONN. Right now we are driving through the most EXTREME fog ever and listening to new Sherwood..it's very ironic. Fernando is sitting next to me..yeah he's drooling on his sleeve. He is in a mountain of softness and I am jealous. For breakfast I had "Fiery HOT" Pringles..Caramel Crunch bar and FROOSSSTED Gatorade. Chuck is a machine driving right now...he is the man who doesn't sleep and I love him for it. We are making incredible time in my opinion..granted we got off to a later start than expected. Conway just brought up an excellent point - I hope there is a basketball court close by..I'd love to shoot some hoops for real. Well I can't think of anything else to say at this moment.

cecil community college, that is the first place we conquered, it was somewhere between deleware and maryland. so we walked around there for a bit since we had the entire day to kill..
like i said we had the entire day to kill. i'm talkin like 12 hours. things started off relatively normal. we found college park and we found the university of maryland so we went there first since i had to pee. so we walked into some random hall, and chuck wlaks into a full classroom and says.. "oops! wrong class" and walks out like it wasnt anything strange
we spent the next 2 hours scouring College Park, MD for a basketball, Costco was a story all of its own but i dont even know how to begin to tell it. we finally found one, and then we wanted to eat so we went to pizza hut.
this was no normal pizza hut, oh no, this was the twilight zone's pizza hut. first off there was a guy on coke or whatever sleeping on the 'waiting to be seated' bench. so he wakes up and is like "SORRY I FELL ASLEEP" and starts ranting about how his pizza is not ready. slamming on the counter, yelling at the chefs. we get one menu between the four of us, and this waitress comes over after like 20 minutes and takes our order with no paper or anything. craziest place ever... just sketchy. she comes over and gives us silverware.. but she just brings over a handful and hands it to shawn haha. it was just insane. you had to be there. anyways. we went back to UMD to play bball and weve basicly been doing that since then. we're basicly students here now. caseys coming at 10:30pm. We've been in college park since 2pm. we left leominster at 5:00am. some of us didnt bother sleeping last night. so we're dead.
--- Monday May 2 ---
11:22am -Mike
after three hours of basketball, TREOS arrived. We went over the Squire's where he was finishing up with Stars Hide Fire. we gathered our equiptment and whatnot, and ended up meeting Squire and the guys from Lux Courageous. It was a real nice to be around a lot of people that we definitely look up to. Treos let us borrow a ridiculous multitude of things, we ate, talked, and said our goodbyes. We then checked out the apartment and just crashed. we just finished up preproduction this morning, and we're about to start tracking drums. as soon as Casey is satisfied with a sound. (hes never satisfied). im gonna go hang out with fern and shawn.

drums and bass are done. guitars begin today. last night we ate DP Dough. It was delish. Things are sounding great so far. I can't wait to start today. geeeetars. mm. short. sentences.

Guitars are almost done we are just doing cleans and leads now. It sounds amazing. It's beautiful. We have some sweet effects we are putting into these songs. Tomorrow is vocals and that is what I am most excited for. Things are going GREAT!

Today is the day of vocals. Me and Conway have finished up all our portions of the lyrics and we have the melodies down. We have chosen the 2 spots for Casey to sing and they are going to be amazing/out of nowhere parts. Electric.

yo yo, its another beautiful day in College Park, and we are just about to start vocals. I havent updated yet, so heres what been goin on for me. There is an endless supply of pornography every where you look, but nowhere to do your business, and its down right wrong. We've been living off of hamburgers, nachos, and soup basically all week, and its great. Apparently Casey LOVES double burgers but wont ever admit to it.
